Permaculture Design Course
There is no PDC planned for this season. We will be operating as normal, welcoming WWOOFers, WorkAwayers, AirBnb guests, cyclists, and visitors from all over.
Join us through the warmer months of the year for a expansive dose of reading landscapes, working with water, building soil, composting, installing solar panels, designing food forests, working on design projects and much more!
The most common format of a permaculture design certificate is a two-week, 72-hour course. While adequate to cover the required material, this format limits time for hands-on learning and leaves little chance to catch one’s breath or integrate the material covered. Manitoulin Permaculture’s extended PDC is designed to give more time for: observing through the seasons, hands-on learning, Q & A, going further with the subject material and connecting with others.
This includes communal meals, wifi access, and tent camping on the property. Indoor accommodations may be provided at additional cost. Tuition does not include transportation.
Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. Manitoulin Permaculture is 12km outside of Little Current, the Island’s largest town.
May – September
We meet one weekend each month. Each weekend begins Friday at 1pm and ends Sunday at 3pm. Attendance is mandatory every weekend if you wish to receive a permaculture design certificate.
Justin Tilson and Monica Chamberland will be your primary instructors joined by various local experts in Animal Husbandry, Natural Building, Renewable Energy, and All Season Growing.
We do our best to source as much of our food from our land, our neighbours, and our local bioregion. When this is not possible, we buy the most ethically sourced ingredients possible for our budget. We use locally raised and humanely harvested meat, eggs, dairy, and honey in our kitchen. If you have any food restrictions, let us know and we will accommodate you.
